Indexing the ZetaChain blockchain makes pulling data simple for building omnichain dApps
We’re dedicated to building a vibrant ecosystem of omnichain dApps on ZetaChain — that’s why we host hackathons, run a grant program and more. As part of this push, we’re working with Covalent to make it easier for developers to build on our platform.
As the first ever L1 blockchain to enable fully interoperable smart contracts, including support for non-smart contract chains like Bitcoin and Dogecoin, it’s essential that we make building on ZetaChain developer-friendly. A big accelerator to development is the availability of useful, indexed data of a blockchain like ZetaChain.
Covalent, a leading provider of indexing solutions for blockchains with a Unified API, has integrated with ZetaChain to give developers reliable and high-quality indexed data that allows them to build faster and easier. A multichain dApp built with ZetaChain’s omnichain smart contracts can use this data in just minutes by simply changing the chain name parameter thanks to this partnership. Combined with other chain data, dApps that span multiple chains can easily make simple, intuitive experiences for their users without the complications of network switching and other common bottlenecks.
In more detail, the Covalent Unified API allows developers to pull data including:
Token balances per address
NFT transactions for contract
Historical transactions per address
All contract metadata

“ZetaChain is creating a new standard for interoperability where users can access all their native assets on a single blockchain. We’re thrilled to have a partner as innovative as ZetaChain and know that developers and dApps in our ecosystem will greatly benefit from their omnichain solution”, says David Tso, Growth & Customer Success Lead at Covalent.
Covalent covers more than 160 blockchain networks and more than 35,000 developers. That spans over 50 billion transactions, more than 40,000 price feeds and in excess of 300,000 smart contracts. We’re delighted to add Covalent to this collective, and we can’t wait to see what multichain dApps our developer community will build using this access to data.

About ZetaChain
ZetaChain is the world’s first and only decentralized EVM-compatible L1 blockchain with built-in cross-chain interoperability, connecting all blockchains, even non-smart contract chains like Bitcoin and Dogecoin. With ZetaChain’s complete Omnichain toolkit, developers can build true omnichain dApps from a single point of logic, and users can access all of their assets, data, and liquidity in a single place, securely.
