ZetaChain 2.0: The Universal Layer for AI and Web3

ZetaChain Team
Build apps that run across chains and models. Keep private memory. Monetize without infrastructure.
We built ZetaChain to eliminate fragmentation in Web3 so developers could build once and reach every chain. In 2025, ZetaChain scaled to 11.5 million people and was secured by some of the world’s most important technology companies. With ZetaChain 2.0, we’re extending that same unification to AI.
AI is quickly becoming the new application layer. But the AI stack is fragmented by default: models don’t share state, apps can’t reliably carry context, and every integration becomes bespoke. The result is a world where developers rebuild the same glue over and over, and users restart their “context” every time they switch tools.
ZetaChain 2.0 provides a universal layer for AI and Web3 so developers can build applications that work across chains and models, preserve private context, and monetize globally without standing up complex backend processes.
The big idea of ZetaChain 2.0
ZetaChain is a general-purpose Layer 1 designed for a new kind of application. With ZetaChain, apps are no longer bound to a single chain, a single AI model, or a single execution environment.
ZetaChain 2.0 abstracts away the hardest parts of modern app development:
AI Models → apps execute across providers without lock-in (OpenAI, Gemini, Grok, open-source models, private inference providers, Etc.)
Chains → apps natively run across ecosystems without custom integrations (Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, and more)
Private Memory → context persists privately across sessions
SDK tools → products with built-in user onboarding, inference routing, payments/wallets, AI credit management, and more, without servers and backend complexity
The universal layer for AI and web3 replaces these fragmented stacks. What used to require infra teams, wallets, payment rails, and backend services now works by default.
AI is becoming the new app layer
AI is moving from a feature to a platform shift. McKinsey estimates generative AI could add $2.6T–$4.4T in annual economic value across use cases.
At the same time, the user experience is still fragmented: consumers largely use one assistant at a time, and only ~9% pay for more than one AI subscription across major providers, suggesting strong demand for a unified layer that can span models without forcing lock-in.

What this means is that the next wave of winners will be apps that (1) can route across models, (2) keep context persistent and private, and (3) monetize globally without rebuilding infrastructure.
The ZetaChain 2.0 Tech Stack
ZetaChain 2.0 is a broader AI interoperability stack that includes the following components:
1. AI Portal
The model landscape will keep shifting with new frontier models, open-source, private inference, and specialized models. The AI Portal is the “connective tissue” between these models and the ecosystem of applications and AI agents, providing routing and generative AI capabilities.
It gives developers a unified way to:
Routing across models and chains (no lock-in to any single provider)
Standardize access to capabilities (text, image, vision, tools/MCP-style)
Optimization management including performance, cost constraints, availability, fallback
Billing/settlement options with stablecoins, native tokens, or standard fiat integrations
2) Private Memory Layer
Model providers and apps should neither harvest and profit off of your data nor forget your preferences and context. ZetaChain 2.0 introduces private, persistent memory at the protocol level via a Private Memory Layer that securely sits between apps/agents and the models they use.
This enables developers to build experiences that:
Remember context across sessions
Maintain state without centralized databases
Keep memory private by design so apps and agents can only access memory through user-controlled permissions
Protected with user-controlled keys and verifiable permissions enforced at the protocol layer
Work consistently across models, chains, and apps
To support continuity across devices and long-lived experiences, the memory layer will support synchronization, encrypted backups, and a clear permissions model.
3) Developer SDKs
ZetaChain 2.0 provides out-of-the-box tools and infrastructure to realize a new generation of apps and agents that work everywhere and keep memory private. The SDK is the on-ramp to:
Integrate once and get multi-model access via the AI Portal
Leverage private memory via permissions
Support cross-chain Web3 experiences when needed
Monetize via global rails including onchain settlement and traditional payment processors like Stripe
Monetize without infrastructure
Built-in monetization in particular is important for developers burdened by billing, accounts, paywalls, payments, and other infrastructure requirements. With ZetaChain 2.0, apps can monetize usage, access, or execution directly and focus on product.
Why this matters: The next generation of apps
When apps can span chains and models, keep private memory, and monetize without backend complexity, you can build products that previously required large teams. Some use cases we’re excited to see developers build are:
Consumer AI experiences with true continuity across models without users having to trust you with their data
Multi-agent workflows that can safely carry user context, privately
AI for users without access to banks or accounts on centralized platforms
“Universal Apps” that blend AI actions and onchain execution seamlessly
The universal layer shifts from isolated tools to connected systems across AI and web3 with a focus on private memory.
Anuma: The first consumer app showcase
Anuma is the first consumer showcase of the ZetaChain 2.0 platform:
Access multiple leading models through one interface
Switch without losing your context
Keep memory private and user-controlled
Request access for early invites.
What’s next
ZetaChain 2.0 is a platform expansion. We’re focused on these near-term priorities:
Early access for anuma and open broader access to the AI developer platform
Expand the Private Memory Layer and permissions model
Expand model routing and capability modules (video gen, vision, tools, MCP-style integrations)
Ship developer SDK examples for AI & Web3 such as robust monetization tools with reference app examples
Scale execution speed to deliver sub-second block times for AI experiences (building on the Lightning and ZetaClient upgrade path)
Expand global expansion & compliance, building on MiCAR and DFSA recognition.
Future work
We are exploring two new use cases for ZETA staking: 1.) Supporting decentralized inference in the AI Portal; 2.) Securing users’ data in the Private Memory Layer as Memory Guardian node. We look forward to sharing updates soon.
