Anuma Ships AI Phone Numbers: The First Texting-Native AI Built on ZetaChain’s AI Interoperability Layer

Today, Anuma, the first consumer app built on ZetaChain 2.0 shipped phone numbers for AI agents that work via SMS and iMessage on any phone. No app download. No wifi. No login. Just a phone number saved in your contacts and an AI that already knows your history.

The feature is called Anuma Friends, and it showcases how ZetaChain’s infrastructure stack makes AI private, portable, model-agnostic in the real world.

What is Anuma Friends?

Anuma Friends introduces two AI agent phone numbers available to every Anuma subscriber:

  • Anuma (+1 415–994–5505) handles personal, productivity-focused conversations. Users text it for research, writing, document generation, image creation, and web search. Anuma supports multi-model switching so users can change the underlying AI model mid-conversation without losing context. Every text exchange feeds into the user’s Private Memory Layer, building encrypted context over time.

  • Coco (+1 917 625 9972) is built for group chats. Users add Coco’s number to any group thread (iMessage or SMS), and she participates naturally. Roleplay, memes, image editing, creative writing. Coco understands conversational dynamics and responds contextually rather than to every message.

Both agents ship under a single subscription starting at $5.99/month, making Anuma the most feature-complete AI texting product on the market at the lowest price point.

Why This Matters for ZetaChain

Anuma Friends isn’t just a consumer product launch. It’s a showcase of every core component of ZetaChain 2.0’s AI interoperability stack working together in production.

Identity and Wallet Creation

Every Anuma user has a ZetaChain wallet, not a traditional cryptocurrency wallet, but a cryptographic identity that serves as the user’s encryption key and authentication layer. Users sign up with Gmail, SMS, social accounts, or existing credentials. ZetaChain handles key generation and management transparently in the background. This wallet gives users sole ownership of the keys that encrypt their AI memory.

When someone texts Anuma from a phone number, that conversation is linked back to their cryptographic identity. The wallet is invisible to the user, but it’s the foundation that makes true memory ownership technically possible.

Private Memory Layer

When a user texts Anuma, the conversation flows through ZetaChain’s Private Memory Layer (PML). Messages are processed, and memories are extracted, stored, and encrypted client-side using AES-GCM with ZetaChain-managed keys.

The PML is what makes texting AI fundamentally different on Anuma compared to competitors. On every other AI texting platform, conversations are stateless and the AI doesn’t remember anything from the last session. On Anuma, the Private Memory Layer persists context across every text, every session, and every model switch. A conversation you have at 35,000 feet builds memory that informs a conversation you have the next morning from your desktop.

When new users sign into the Anuma app for the first time after texting, their memory vault is already pre-filled and populated entirely from their text conversations. The PML is makes AI memory encrypted, permissioned, and persistent.

AI Portal and Multi-Model Routing

Anuma’s multi-model capabilities are powered by ZetaChain’s AI Portal, the unified routing and execution layer across AI model providers including GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, and others. When an Anuma user texts /model claude or /model gpt, the AI Portal handles the switch seamlessly. The Portal manages availability, fallback, and cost-performance optimization automatically.

A big differentiator is that the user’s memory persists across model switches. Context is never lost when changing providers. This is the AI Portal and Private Memory Layer working together, something no single-model platform can replicate because it requires infrastructure-level interoperability.

Payment Infrastructure

Anuma’s credit-based payment system operates on ZetaChain through an escrow-based billing model. This decouples payment processing from centralized payment providers and enables transparent, verifiable transactions that settle via stablecoins on ZetaChain. Users purchase credits through subscriptions or credit packs that are consumed fractionally based on actual compute costs per model. The texting feature inherits this same payment rail so users pay once and text as they please.
